Techniques & Procedures In Grand Rapids MI

Chiropractic Grand Rapids MI Techniques

At Grand Rapids MI chiropractic clinic Dr. John Owings has been practiced multiple different techniques and procedures to help his patients recover stronger and faster.

Spinal Manipulation In Grand Rapids MI

Also known as a spinal adjustment, this technique uses pressure on certain joints in the spine, often used to improve pain and function for the patient. When normal motion is established all of the structures around the joint are relaxed. Abnormal joint motion creates tension on the surrounding structures like muscles, ligaments, and nerves. This can then create stiffness, pain, and dysfunction. Our gentle method of chiropractic care is painless and very effective in helping people relieve pain and stiffness.

Radiology

If x-rays are necessary to ascertain effective treatment, we can make sure the proper studies are performed right in our office. Our advanced equipment, strict adherence to safety precautions, and conservative use of x-rays means minimal exposure to our patients. We can also recommend to your family physician that other special studies like MRI’s, CAT scans, and nerve conduction velocity testing be done to facilitate the most accurate diagnosis.

VibraCussor®

VibraCussor® percussive therapy is an exciting new treatment approach for muscle and ligament problems and related myofascial conditions. The VibraCussor® instrument delivers waves of percussive impulses deep into the tissues of the body. The VibraCussor® has a 12-speed switch with a range from 8 cps to 52 cps. The calibrated speeds enable a practitioner to easily return to preferred frequencies for specific protocols. VibraCussor® therapy is very effective for releasing muscles. The VibraCussor® compression waves promote an increase in circulation and lymphatic flow and a decrease in muscle spasm.

Arthrostim®

An Arthrostim® adjustment produces a speedy thrust and recoil motion, similar to the way a chiropractor uses their hands to adjust the vertebrae in your back. The benefit of the instrument is that it performs this high-velocity, low-amplitude motion 12 times per second, and is targeted to a very small area. The force of the thrust radiates through the joint and the tissues that surround it, releasing trigger points that are often the cause of muscle spasms.

Electrical Stimulation (E-Stim)

Our laser combines two therapies: a cold laser devise and separate micro-current electrical stimulation – all in one device.
Low Level Laser Therapy (aka cold laser) is a well-established therapy for pain relief and rehabilitation of numerous injuries. The laser light penetrates tissue where it is absorbed by cells and effectively stimulates the increased production of ATP, producing rapid pain relief and quicker healing.

Micro-Current Electrical Stimulation stimulates the production of endorphins, which are the body’s natural pain relievers. As the pain eases, physiological changes cause muscles to relax and circulation to improve. The increased oxygen flows promote natural healing.
